The food business operator named on the label answers for the food information, with UVHVVR as the main control authority and the Health Inspectorate (Zdravstveni inšpektorat RS) for food supplements; for cosmetics the Chemicals Office and the Health Inspectorate are the competent authorities.

Slovenian is mandatory on food packaging under the Act on the Public Use of Slovenian, and the cosmetics decree (Art. 6) requires the listed label particulars on the cosmetic pack in Slovenian; allergens in unpackaged food must be shown visibly next to the food or on the menu.

Food business operators must notify the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, with a sample label, before placing a food bearing health claims on the market; disease-risk and children's claims are applied for through the same ministry, and the Ministry of Health covers food supplements.
